The Mortgage Business Expo at The Armouries in Leeds was billed as the biggest and most essential meeting place for the financial intermediary market.
And so it proved, at what was a very successful show for us, with Signature Private Finance represented on the day by our Business Development Managers, Danny Power (covering the North of the country) and Parminder Bansal (covering the Midlands).
There is always a suspicion that events like this are dominated by people on the hunt for ‘freebies’, but our stand, right next to the lecture theatre, attracted high quality visitors wanting to know what we offer, whether we were lending and how we like to work.
Right from the off
It was obvious from the minute the doors opened, our message that we find ways to lend, rather than turn deals down, was bringing genuine enquiries for live projects.
Interestingly, there was a significant number of professional introducers attending the show, with their presence boosted by the invitations sent by Danny to Yorkshire-based brokers, many of whom made the effort to visit the stand.
It is always good to be able to reinforce our message and discuss our products with existing customers. But interest from new contacts, less aware of all of our short-term property finance solutions and in particular our low rates and high LTVs, is the real excitement of exhibitions of this nature.
One mortgage broker who spent time on the stand discussing deals with us, went back to his office and submitted information on two separate new enquiries, one for almost £80k and another for around £85k. Having offered indicative terms within hours, these deals are currently ongoing.
We also had very positive responses to our offering from other introducers at the event. It will take a week or two to call all the new contacts made over the course of the show, with 14 active business introducers and 6 additional businesses that have occasional need of bridging loans.
With Leeds not too far north, we were happy to see many introducers from the Midlands, with Parminder able to secure meetings with a significant number of brokers new to Signature Private Finance.
Quiet in the afternoon
Although it was very refreshing to get such immediate responses from introducers, the event quietened down substantially in the afternoon, with most exhibitors breaking down their stands around 3pm.
There were a couple of other bridging lenders exhibiting, which proves there was business to be done and it wasn’t just Signature Private Finance that could see the potential.
Old relationships strengthened and new contacts made at the show, with the opportunity to immediately conclude deals means this was a successful show, both in the short term and for the longer-term benefit of spreading news of our low rates, quick decisions and high quality customer service.
We will be continuing to exhibit at locations across the country but in the meantime, if you need any support with short-term property finance, for bridging, auction purchases or refurbishment of a property you own, please get in touch.
